Why Mississauga premiums keep climbing
Mississauga's average car insurance quote rose 7.3% in a year to $2,494, the biggest increase among Ontario's six largest cities in a 2026 comparison. Only Brampton, its Peel Region neighbour, came in higher.
Theft is a large part of the picture. Mississauga had the third-highest auto theft claims costs in Ontario in 2025, and Peel Regional Police counted more than 2,800 vehicles stolen in the city that year, even as thefts across Peel fell. Your postal code and vehicle model will move your quote more here than in most of the province.

Before you compare quotes in Mississauga
- Since July 1, 2026, income replacement and some other accident benefits are optional on new policies. Ask the broker what dropping them would save and what you'd give up, especially if you rely on your paycheque.
- Ask whether a tracking device or other anti-theft measure changes your price; some insurers treat high-theft models differently.
- Have each driver's licence history, any claims or tickets from the last six years, and your current renewal ready so quotes are accurate.
- Compare the same limits and deductibles across quotes; a lower price with $200,000 liability isn't comparable to one with $2 million.
Local facts last reviewed October 2026. Figures are published averages and public data, not quotes; your premium depends on your own details.
